Born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York, Derick grew up in a musical family and was constantly immersed in a groovy environment. From an early age, he felt inspired to join any and all music groups available to him - Band, choir, orchestra, and whatever else he could get involved with.

In 5th grade, Derick made his performance debut singing “Let It Be” by The Beatles at the talent show (linked here for your viewing pleasure: https://youtu.be/L4FeEaALPv8?si=BbxiZyaNYo3z5040 ) A year later, he performed in his first ever musical, ‘The Little Mermaid’ as Chef Louis, which marked the beginning of his theatre career!

Derick values a safe and welcoming environment and works hard to lead with empathy in any room that he occupies. He believes in uplifting all voices and enjoys collaborating in order to cultivate an enriching and valuable space.

When not on stage, he enjoys drawing, photography, taking a nap, or playing with his dog, Ginger!
